Nov. 11th, 2014 @ 06:17 pm Scarves for sale!
Well I know I haven't written much here in a long time. I mostly post on facebook now. But I figured it wouldn't hurt to post my scarves here too. I made a line of Star Trek Scarves. They are six feet long and come in red, yellow, and blue. They are backed with black velour fabric. They are going for $50 shipping included. I have an extra long red scarf that is going for $55.

If you are interested in them please let me know. I have them done and ready to go.

May. 2nd, 2011 @ 09:15 am Layer 2 of Victorian Gown
I started working on my corset for my gown. I was watching a Victorian style movie "The inheritance" and it got my creative juices flowing again. So I was working with the pattern and I had a question about the sizing on the corset. And I thought hey when I bought the pattern at the costume college the Truly Victorian people said they would answer questions for you. So I emailed them my measurements and my concern I was having at around 8pm on last Thursdays and it in like 2 hours they responded with an answer! I was extremely pleased. I would recommend them to anyone looking to do Victorian dresses!

So now I am trying to figure out what hard wear I need so I can order that and hopefully before long I will have layer number two done.

I finally decided to get started on my Victorian dress. I got the stuff to start this a while ago. So here is layer 1 the chemise. I decided to skip the drawers for basic convenience.

My under clothes are white and silver so I put some silver trim around the neck and sleeves. I used some lace my mom had in her sewing box from a while ago. Now its time to start the next layer, the corset.

Feb. 13th, 2011 @ 08:24 pm New Costume!
I have decided to start my Victorian dress. YAY! I bought patterns for it two years ago at costume college. My gosh I cant believe that was two years ago this summer... My how time goes by far to quickly. I think its kinda funny that last years costume, the orion slave girl, which was probably the least clothed costume goes to its complete opposite Victorian ball gown that has about 3 different layers. I decided it was going to be a pretty dress year. :)

My patterns are from "Truly Victorian." The women from this group were so nice to talk to and very informative. I got the chemise and drawers, corset, bustle, petticoat, underskirt, apron, and bodice patterns.

I am starting from this inside out with some lovely Victorian underpants! I actually decided to omit the drawers and just go with the chemise since no one is really going to see them and its one more hassle between me and the bathroom... I got my fabric for the corset too. I wanted it to be pretty so I got a white and silver brocade fabric that I am going to put over my white twill. I mean come on everyone wants pretty underwear. I still need to order my hardware for the corset but hopefully these will come along nicely.

So heres to phase one on my trip back in time.

About this Entry
Sep. 25th, 2010 @ 10:36 pm Whats happening
I think its time for an update of my life. Primarily since I am bored and cant really do anything since its to late to be drilling and hammering into the wall.....

So lets see what has happened since the last time I posted. Well that was a long time ago so lots to say!

As far as my crafts go lets see what I have actually gotten done on my to do list I posted before.

Star Trek costume - Well I never did get around to fixing up my "non-dead" costume. One day that will get done but now it pretty much needs to be totally redone with weight loss and improvement of skills. I did make my Orion slave girl costume. I think it turned out great with the help of my wonderful boyfriend who sat there for two hours painting me green. He is a great guy!

Edward's Quilt - Well I have defiantly made a lot of progress on this. I finished all the quilting and now I really want to do a bit of embroidery on the the middle of each side. Then I just need to stitch the binding to the back and make the info patch and that is done! Its so close I can taste it....

Lobster Thermals - Well I got them cut out and the shirt partially sewn together and then I got sidetracked... Its in the needs to be done box now.

Laptop case - DONE! I did finish this one and its really nice I think. Its just a sleeve and I used some leftover neoprene on the inside and then the flap Velcros closed.

Ren Faire Bodice - Haven't touched that one. It got placed in the to be done box.

Green Knitted blanket - DONE! I got this one done and now it is happily sitting at the foot of my bed. I still need to take a completed picture of this one.

Shamrock corset - Almost done with that. I was sewing the trim on and kinda messed it up and haven't got around to fixing it.

So that was my old list as of March 29th 2010. Whoa that was a long time ago. I have added a few projects. A couple baby blankets and some stuff for Angie's wedding which I should get done this week once I get my sewing machine moved.

Yes I did move! I am in my own little studio apartment that I think is actually pretty cute. Its a lot more spacious that I thought it was going to be. I cant wait to get my sewing/craft stuff over here and set up. Also I am very proud of myself for being able to move my very heavy bed top plug in the extension cords. Now I can set up my lights on either side and my shelves. My bed is up to high for night stands so I got little shelves for each side. Eventually I want to get my fish tank set up. I brought it over but there is nothing in it yet. Also I still defiantly need some decorations on the walls. Its a little plain but it is getting there.

So that's pretty much a good update for now. :) Enjoy

Jul. 1st, 2010 @ 08:12 pm Help?
Can anyone recommend a good place to buy some steel boning. I found a site but it seemed really expensive to just get a few bones for one corset. Any thoughts would be very helpful!

Mar. 29th, 2010 @ 10:50 pm To do list
Things I to do, I feel the need to organize my thoughts on a my livejournal because I feel it has been very neglected same with my myspace but I don't feel nearly as bad for that one.

1. Star Trek costume - I have only decided to make one this year. We will see if that ends up being true... Although I do have thoughts of fixing up my "non dead" skant but I don't really consider that something new since I have been trying to finish it for the last two maybe three years. I have an idea and I have bough some minor things for it. Now I just need to figure out how to do a lot of green paint....

2. Quilt Edwards quilt. - it is all pinned together and just waiting for me to quilt it but I haven't been able to decided on what design I want to quilt on it. Also I have been to lazy to figure out where my hoop went that I want to use. I have an idea of where it is and I just need to dig it out. I would like to have this done before august so I can show my aunt.

3. Lobster thermals - I got some lobster thermal fabric which is pretty amazing. It was on the clearance rack and I didn't buy it the first time I saw it so when I saw it again I knew it was meant to be. I need to pick up some red knit as the accent color for around the neck and wrists and ankles. I want these for the joshua tree campout. They will be pretty freakin awesome! YAY for lobsters!

4. Laptop case - I just got a laptop which I am actually talking to you on. I feel it needs a way cool case. I just made a neoprene cover for it which is for just basic protection. Now I want to make a messenger bag style case for it out of some blue corduroy fabric I have had siting in my room forever. Need to have something to hold cords and other things you like to carry with you. Like a snack, a book, or a small knitting project the possibilities are endless!

5. Ren Fair bodice - My old one died but had a very good run. I made the pattern but now I have been to lazy to cut it out. Actually I need to wash the fabric but the dryer is currently out of order. I guess I could line dry it since it doesn't really need to have that dryer softness to it.

6. Green Knitted blanket - this project was more of a whim and I like to work on it when I am bored or should be working on something else like the above 4 mentioned. I am about 2/3 done with it.

7. Shamrock corset - need to get some proper length steel for this one and its almost done.

Ok I think those are the top things I want to get done in the near future. Although I am feeling kinda tired right now so I think I am going to go to sleep and worry about these things later.

Feb. 1st, 2010 @ 04:04 pm Stupid wall of defeat
I have decided the craft gods must be angry with me or something. I have been working on a project for a little while now and everything was going great and I am very happy with it so far. I just have to do the finishing parts to it but nothing seems to be right. I have hit the wall. Then ran into it so many times trying to get over it I must be bleeding and broken on the ground by now. Haha Not Me! I finally found one style I actually liked and it was like the heavens open up and the angels sing! So I sit here thinking YES! I can finish this and then.... that pesky wall decides it needs to come back. I get through one part and I ran out of the main material...... I think oh well thats not to bad I will go to the store and get some more. I get to the store look every where for the material and yes you guessed it. They have no more and chances are extremely slim they will ever get more..... So now I am standing there in front of this theoretical wall beating my head against it trying to figure out what the hell I am supposed to do now?!?!?! So then the quest to find a substitute that is similar and will still work. Of course the stuff I have is freakin unique and nothing seems to match it.... So I give up on that store sad but not totally down and out cause I got this really cool ruler. Fun craft toys for the win! So now I find myself heading to all the stores in the area in quest to find this suitable substitute. Strike out at the first store and then I decided to go to a craft store I dont usually go to and TA DA! They have something! Its not exactly the same but I think it will give a cool effect. So now I sit here, hopefully on the other side of that stupid wall, with all the things I need to finish this crazy black hole of a project. Will it get done?? I sometimes wonder.. Am I partially insane for finding so much joy out of these ridiculously complicated projects? Possibly. ;)

Tuesday, November 17, 2009

Ok I forgot to write this yesterday so here it is.

Not to much going on yesterday but one thing that made me happy was I went down to downtown brea and they had a farmers market going on. There was a man that was making random goat noices and it was really funny. It made me happy.

Wednesday November 18, 2009

My friend Michael at work showed me these awesome things being done in other countries to make mudane things fun. Like a trash can that made a sound like your trash was falling really far. Or a stair case that was like piano keys complete with sounds. Or the bottle recycler game. In each case people threw away more trash, used the stairs more, and recycled more bottles than at normal locations. Plus it was totally aweome. That made me quite happy to see!
